Nicolas Freschi
Nicolas Freschi, Director, brings over nine years of experience supporting energy-related analysis, including capacity markets, renewable energy, policy research, and modeling of various regional transmission organization (RTO) markets. He oversees Gabel Associates’ PJM and MISO capacity market subscription services, using a risk-based Monte Carlo simulation he developed to track policy and market changes and model their impacts on future capacity clearing prices. Mr. Freschi also runs the firm’s proprietary Analytical Likelihood of Availability and Non-Performance Risk (ALAN) model, which assesses the probabilistic exposure of capacity resources across PJM and ISO-NE using outage and performance assessment data.
In addition to capacity markets, Mr. Freschi contributes to energy procurement, tariff analysis, and offshore wind and battery storage market studies. He develops interactive tools, dashboards, and visualizations using Python to analyze large datasets, iteratively refine models, and predict energy and ancillary service prices. His work includes financial risk modeling for renewable energy assets, policy analysis, and support for client testimony on offshore wind development. With a physics background in cloud research, Mr. Freschi combines quantitative, policy, and technical expertise to provide comprehensive insights for energy market clients.
