Consulting efforts are led by Mark Warner, Senior Vice President of the firm, who has over thirty years of experience in electricity market development and infrastructure transformation. Prior to joining Gabel Associates, Mr. Warner served as the Director of Energy at the Sustainability Institute at The College of New Jersey and at Sustainable Jersey, where he focused on the accelerated adoption of sustainable solutions in renewable energy, energy efficiency, alternative vehicles, and on emerging technologies including energy storage, smart grid, and micro-grids. Mr. Warner chaired Sustainable Jersey’s Energy Task Force, and led the development of high-impact best-practice standards for the award-winning Sustainable Jersey program.

Our resiliency consulting includes the evaluation of energy storage, microgrids, and alternative generation technologies (including combined heat and power, solar, and battery storage) that allow portions of a facility (such as an emergency management center, school, medical facility, shelter, etc.) to operate when the utility grid is down. Technologies can frequently be combined to provide benefits and value throughout the year, not just when the grid is down.

Gabel Associates has also assisted clients with the development of sustainability programs and strategic energy master plans (EMPs), which identify strategies to manage, conserve, and reduce a business’s energy consumption and carbon footprint. The firm conducts detailed reviews and assessments of facilities and operations to benchmark and evaluate environmental, economic, and social performance. Once a baseline is established, we are able to identify opportunities for cost savings and sustainability improvements to improve our client’s energy portfolio.

Gabel Associates evaluates all available state, federal, utility, RTO, and other incentives that can be utilized to offset the capital costs of sustainability enhancements, ensuring that our clients realize all additional revenue opportunities created by their efficiency projects. We also help our clients take full advantage of opportunities to participate in demand response programs.

Our clients for these services include the State of New Jersey, Jersey City, New Jersey School Boards Association, the National Park Service (at over 180 sites), Hudson County, the Teaneck Board of Education, Newark Housing Authority, Chatham Board of Education, McGraw Hill Corporation, and many others.

Gabel Associates also serves as the Lead Consultant for the ACESplus Program. The program was established by the New Jersey School Boards Association and the New Jersey Association of School Administrators to assist school boards across New Jersey to cost-effectively implement sustainability, energy efficiency, renewable energy, and resiliency technologies.
