Showcase Projects:
Department of Veterans Affairs
Gabel Associates had a long standing Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) National Energy Business Center. As part of this agreement, the firm conducted renewable energy (solar PV, solar thermal, wind, and ground source heat pump) and combined heat and power feasibility studies at VA sites throughout the country.
The firm completed over fifty comprehensive feasibility studies at various VA sites. Our tasks have included detailed feasibility assessments; data collection; site visits and coordination with site personnel; comprehensive economic, technical, and financial analysis; tariff review and energy price forecasting; financing structure evaluation; and sensitivity analysis.
National Park Service
In January 2010, Gabel Associates was awarded long-term agreements to conduct energy and water audits and sustainability assessments for five regions of the National Park Service (NPS) including:
- National Capital Region
- Midwest Region
- Intermountain Region
- Pacific West Region
- Alaska Region
Gabel Associates was also selected by NPS to complete energy and water audits and sustainability assessments in the Southeast Region, and was part of a team that completed similar services in the Northeast Region.
This scope of work included collecting and analyzing historical energy usage, identifying potential energy conservation projects, calculating investment payback, benchmarking usage against historic energy consumption, collecting and characterizing meter information, prioritizing buildings for retro-commissioning, identifying renewable generation opportunities, and performing sustainability assessments.
In total, the firm participated in auditing activities for over 180 national park sites across the country.
Department of Defense
Through its role as a subcontractor, Gabel Associates supported DOD in its effort to achieve its goal of installing 1 gigawatt of renewable energy on Army installations by 2025. The firm was tasked with providing expert advice and analysis. Our activities have included market research, site identification, economic, financial and tariff analysis, project development, and sophisticated energy price forecasting and modeling to support the DOD in its assessment of renewable energy projects across the country.
