Kat Riley
Kat Riley, Director, leads the firm’s marketing, business development, and contracting efforts. She oversees proposal development, contract negotiations, and the creation of strategic client-facing and internal materials, ensuring alignment with client goals through strong inter-team collaboration. Ms. Riley supports ongoing client relations, project planning, and operational initiatives, and has played a key role in developing outreach, marketing, and educational materials for across the firm. Her professional experience spans the non-profit, corporate, academic, and government sectors, providing her with a deep understanding of sustainability, environmental policy, and the human-environment nexus.
Prior to joining Gabel Associates, Ms. Riley worked as a Global Legal Specialist at a Fortune 500 company, reviewing and negotiating federal and commercial contracts across five continents and supporting RFP processes. She also held policy and program roles with environmental non-profits and completed her Master’s in Global Sustainability and Climate Change at SIT Graduate Institute, conducting field-based research in Iceland, Tanzania, and Hawaii. Her practicum at Honolulu’s Office of Climate Change, Sustainability, and Resiliency included capacity analyses of city and county departments, microgrid feasibility studies, and development of the city’s first Long-Term Disaster Recovery Plan.
