Independent Energy Producers of New Jersey
CLIENT:
Independent Energy Producers of New Jersey (IEPNJ)
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES:
To provide marketplace and regulatory analysis to ensure that energy and environmental policies in New Jersey continue to encourage the development and operation of a competitive power generation industry
PROJECT OVERVIEW:
Gabel Associates was the lead consultant to the Independent Energy Producers of New Jersey (IEPNJ) for over 25 years. IEPNJ is a not-for-profit trade association that represents New Jersey’s wholesale electric generators. Gabel Associates provided extensive analytical, environmental, regulatory, and policy support to the association and its members who own natural gas, nuclear, coal, and oil-fired power generation facilities.
Gabel Associates evaluated all major economic and environmental initiatives under consideration in the state legislature, executive branch, New Jersey Board of Public Utilities, and the Department of Environmental Protection in its efforts to support a competitive wholesale generation market.
Since its founding in 1992, IEPNJ achieved significant accomplishments that helped to enhance and protect the position of generators in the state. This included beneficial outcomes in merger settlements, annual Basic Generation Service (BGS) proceedings, natural gas discount matters, industry restructuring legislation, and environmental issues.
